The CNS Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving team earned an exciting 96–90 road victory over West Genesee on September 23 in a meet that featured several lead changes and came down to the final events. The Northstars used strong swimming, a big performance from their divers, and valuable depth throughout the lineup to come away with the six-point win.
CNS opened the meet in impressive fashion, as the 200 medley relay team of Ella Devennie, Sarah Ward, Brynn Robillard, and Abilene Baker captured first place in 2:10.97. Ward followed with another major performance in the 200 individual medley, winning the event in 2:36.03, while Robillard placed third.
The diving team provided a huge boost for the Northstars. Alaina Parody won the 1-meter diving competition with 174.00 points, while Leah Walker placed third with 152.55 and Abilene Baker finished fourth with 134.75, helping CNS build momentum in the middle of the meet.
The Northstars continued to collect important points throughout the swimming events. Brynn Robillard finished second in the 100 butterfly in 1:17.32, with Kendall Peak third and Ally VanBeveren fourth. Ella Devennie then captured the 100 freestyle in 1:02.42, just five-hundredths of a second ahead of West Genesee's Clara Hann, while Micayla Whitmore added a third-place finish for CNS.
CNS delivered another key victory in the 200 freestyle relay. Devennie, Ward, Peak, and Baker combined for a winning time of 1:59.61, helping the Northstars extend their advantage to 80–60 at that point in the meet.
West Genesee continued to battle back, but CNS responded when it mattered. Sarah Ward earned her second individual victory of the evening, taking the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.11. With the meet still competitive heading into the final relay, the Northstars secured the points they needed to finish with a 96–90 victory.
For a young CNS team, the victory was another important step forward. The Northstars showed resilience in a meet where momentum shifted several times, with swimmers and divers throughout the lineup contributing valuable points. CNS is showing the kind of teamwork, determination, and unity that defines the Northstar Way.
The future is bright for CNS Swimming & Diving—and this young group is just getting started.
