Fourth-seed Syracuse West and fifth-seeded Cicero-North Syracuse faced off in the first-ever Section III flag football playoff game on Wednesday night.
A dominant showing by Syracuse West's defense led to a 20-0 win over the Northstars in the quarterfinal round of the Division I sectional tournament.

"The girls had a lot of fun," Syracuse West coach Steve Brice said. "It was really cool to be opening the sectional playoffs. It was a cool part of history."
The Syracuse West defense stifled the offense of C-NS. Adorable Reddish showed out with stellar play from the linebacker position. Cornerback Connie Schimpff locked up whichever Northstars receiver she was defending.
Syracuse West scored in a variety of ways offensively. Quarterback Amiyah Williams utilized both her arm and legs to torch the Northstars' defense. The sophomore threw for one touchdown and added another score on the ground.
"Amiyah Williams was lights out," Brice said.
Wide receiver Tyra Wren caught the touchdown pass from Williams. Reddish, Syracuse West's running back, scored on an explosive rushing play.
Syracuse West and C-NS had split the regular season series between the two teams. The Northstars came away victorious in their first meeting on April 15 with a 27-6 win. Syracuse West bounced back with a 19-14 defeat of C-NS last Wednesday.
Syracuse West earned the fourth seed in the playoffs thanks to a 7-5 regular season record. Syracuse West is currently riding a four-game win streak.
Syracuse West (8-5) heads to Baldwinsville on Thursday for a semifinal matchup with the top-seeded Bees. Syracuse West will be looking to win the rubber match between the two teams as they also split their two regular season games.
"We just played (Baldwinsville) on Monday, so we got a good look at what they do," Brice said. "We're just trying to stick to our keys and hopefully come up with another win against them."
C-NS finishes their season with a commendable 6-6-1 record.
