"It was probably our cleanest game defensively," C-NS coach Stephan Bailey said. "It started with another awesome performance from our pitcher, Kaden Kalfass. He went five innings, struck out 10, only walked a couple (of batters)... that's what really got us going early, and the bats came alive after that."

Kalfass held the Bees to two hits and no runs through the first five innings. Landon Cook entered the game in relief and maintained the shutout through the final two innings.

"(Kalfass) is a hard-working kid," Bailey said. "He's continuing to get better every outing. He's definitely trending in the right direction, which we're happy about."

C-NS struggled at the plate early on in the contest. A five-run third inning followed by four runs in the fourth blew the game open.

Nine different players recorded hits for the Northstars. Mason Mingle and Benjamin Watkins led the way with two hits apiece. Mingle also chipped in with three runs scored. Jadien GunnipCarter KingChristopher Williams and Jaden Zimmer racked up two runs each. All 11 of the Northstars' hits were singles.

"We were disciplined at the plate," Bailey said. "We didn't chase out of the zone... it was one of our better hitting performances on the season."

Jason Ouellette got on base a team-high three times for Baldwinsville with a hit and two walks. Anderson TutenJoey Gennario and Nathan Marier also recorded hits for the Bees.

This was the second straight shutout for C-NS. The Northstars entered this game coming off a 6-0 victory over Westhill on April 27. The win against Baldwinsville propelled the C-NS to second place in the Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division.

"It's been at times an up-and-down season," Bailey said. "We had a couple of uncharacteristic, tough losses where we were ahead and gave it away. We've talked about stacking the good days and stacking the wins ... it's a resilient bunch."

C-NS (6-4) looks to keep its momentum going as it takes on Auburn on Tuesday. Baldwinsville (7-3) has a date with East Syracuse Minoa on Tuesday.
