The Cicero-North Syracuse cheer squad captured the title and highest score at its own Starfest competition on Saturday.
Coach Sierra Colombini's team executed a great performance at a competition that C-NS has hosted for the past 10 years.
"We had a bit of a hiccup, but we recovered well. Their hard work is paying off," Colombini said.
Colombini said there was a "bobble" on the Northstars' first stunt performance. The performance the rest of the way was near perfect for C-NS.
"The recovery was amazing," Colombini said. "We made some stunt changes this week. It took some adjustment, but (the team) delivered."
C-NS took first in the large division, with Liverpool coming in second place, Oswego in third and Watertown in fourth.
Sandy Creek took home the small division crown. Baldwinsville came in second, General Brown took third and Jamesville-DeWitt grabbed fourth.
C-NS will now prepare for next week's sectional championship competition. The Northstars are looking for their second title in three seasons.
"I'm feeling pretty confident," Colombini said. "The girls need to clean up a few things, but they'll be unstoppable with the mindset they've had all season."
