"I think they did great for being our first competition of the season," Liverpool coach Ashley Windhausen said. "They did really well. They were definitely nervous beforehand, but I think they went out there and they did the job they had to do, and I'm really proud of them."
Windhausen said her team is young but they have unmatched "ambition and drive" to get better every day.
"We've got a lot of years left with them that we're really excited about," she said. "We're really happy to see the younger athletes coming in. We have a lot of younger athletes now coming back in and it's really good to see. We like to have our program grow."
Liverpool's next chance to compete will be during the SCAC league competition on Wednesday night in their home gym.
Reigning sectional champion West Genesee took first in the medium division with a score of 67.80. They were followed by Phoenix (57.60) and South Jefferson (44.70).

Christiansen said she is so happy to be a part of the growth of Baldwinsville's competition and cheerleading as a sport in Central New York.
"It is so rewarding and I just ... feel very grateful to be in this position and have this opportunity," she said. "I once was a part of the Baldwinsville varsity cheerleading team, and now I work in the district and I coach for that same varsity team. It's very full circle and it's something I am very proud of. I love that I have the opportunity to continue the tradition of hosting."
