"(Zicaro) commanded his own on the mount entire game," C-NS coach Kevin Rockwell said.
Cicero-North Syracuse (6-0) stayed unbeaten and Baldwinsville (2-1) suffered its first loss.
Zicaro was in a pitcher's duel with Baldwinsville's Kai Girard. The Bees' senior struck out five and allowed a run and six hits.
"It was a really greatly pitched game between two good pitchers," Rockwell said.
The Northstars' lone run came in the top of the sixth inning. Corey Cartier led off the inning with a single. After Cartier stole second base, Michael Rockwell moved him to third on a sacrifice fly. Logan Karwowski then drove Cartier home on a single.
"That inning was the only inning we put pressure on (Baldwinsville)," Rockwell said. "Luckily, we had a timely hit."
The Bees had a chance to win it in the bottom of the seventh. Aiden Milburn reached base on an infield single. Matt Carner was issued a walk to put runners on first and second, but Perry Chetney struck out for one out.
Braden Seeber followed up with a bloop single in the outfield, which loaded the bases for Baldwinsville. After Reid Rachwal was called out on strikes, Cameron Brennan hit a deep drive to left field, but C-NS made the catch for the final out.
"That's how a high school baseball game is supposed to be played," Rockwell said. "It had good pitching and defense."
The Northstars are at Fayetteville-Manlius High School on Monday for a 5 p.m. matchup against the Hornets. Baldwinsville hosts Liverpool at noon Saturday.
