Northstars back in the Swim of Things!

Over the break, The lady Northstars Swimming and Diving team suffered a loss to Liverpool, but quickly came back like a gale across the open water to level Oswego. Back in the swim of things, the chlorine crusaders soaked Baldwinsville and West Genesee moving to 3-2 in the SCAC. Senior sprinter Alayna Harbaugh, and Junior Bryn Myers have led the charge in the sprint events. Despite Myers sprint power, her utility was proven at West Genesee as she was able to capture 1st in the middle and long distance events, with a varsity best time of 5:52.14 in the 500 yard freestyle. Freshman Ella Lawrence and senior Grace Devinney have provided great depth and back up all season in the 200 and 500 freestyle as well. Freshman Kate Gucciardi picked up a pair of first place finishes at Baldwinsville in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, while Alexa Kulakowski has had strong performances in the 100 backstroke, and sprint events. Senior Alayna Harbaugh captured 1st place in the 100 breaststroke at West Genesee, despite never having swum the event in her career! Sophomore Kaitlyn "Anti-Gravity" Carroll remains unbeaten in 1 meter diving since the Fall of 2019, and is the number one ranked diver in Section III. Cassidy Svoboda(10) continues to improve in the breaststroke, fly, and sprint events giving the squad added "Star" power. The Northstars take on Jamesville Dewitt on Saturday, a program they have not defeated since 2007. Go STARS!
