Kaitlyn Carroll SCAC Diving champion

Cicero-North Syracuse diver Kaitlyn Carroll turned in an 11-dive total that qualified her for the state tournament in November and gave her the Salt City Athletic Conference diving title for the second year in a row on Saturday at the Nottingham High School Pool.

Carroll, a junior, turned in a winning 11-dive total of 463.35 total, well above the required minimum 440.00 total needed to get to the state meet.

"I've been working to change a lot of my dives to pike because it is a higher difficulty," said Carroll, a two-time All-CNY diver. "I've been working really hard on those this year. My favorite dive I did today is probably my front double pike, which was my last dive I completed today."

So now that Carroll has won this event and qualified for the state meet, what's next?

"My biggest priority this year was making it to states, now that I have done that my next goal is to win sectionals, and break my school's 11-dive meet record," Carroll said. "I also am hoping to at least place top 10 at states, if not top 5.

That record is currently held by current Northstars diving coach Kerri Vito, whose 11-dive record is 489.20. Vito was an All-American diver for C-NS and a repeat sectional champion.
