Girls Varsity Swimmers and Divers Dunk Defending Class C Champions Skaneateles 97-84

The Northstars Swimmers & Divers roared passed the Lakers Thursday night winning 9 of 12 events.  Setting the pace early was a come from behind win in the 200 medley relay that saw Bryn Myers reeling in and touching out the Lakers squad 1:59.43 to 1:59 52.  Striking next, Grace Devinney notched a win in the 200 freestyle in 2:14.00 followed by a 3rd and 4th place by Erika Purdy 2:16.58 and Jeanne Vinette 2:20.41.  Sophomore Brittany Wood battled hard in the 200 individual medley earning a 2nd place, 2:30.80 to the Lakers Lili Winkelman 2:30.09.  Bryn Myers chipped in for a 3rd in 2:32.81, while freshman Cassidy Svoboda swam a lifetime best of 2:44.57.  The dynamic diving duo of senior Madeline Thorne and freshman Kaitlyn Carroll again could not be denied a 1-2 finish holding off five Skaneateles divers earning scores of 239.9 and 217.5 respectively.  Eighth grader Kate Gucciardi swam to a lifetime best in the 100 butterfly 1:07.32, and took a first in the 100 backstroke, going stroke for stroke with the Lakers best swimmer Lily Buchholz, touching her out 1:04.32 to 1:04.55.  Alayna Harbaugh led the sprinters placing 2nd in the 50 freestyle (26.33), and 1st in the 100 freestyle (59.64).  Alexa Kulakowski rounded out the sprinting splash fury in a blistering lifetime best of 27.50 in the 50 free as well.   Jeanne Vinette  caught up to and passed her opponent in the 500 freestyle scoring a 1st place with a season best of 6:00.16, backed up by Ryleigh and Kamryn Lenning.   The 200 freestyle team of Bryn Myers, Alayna Harbaugh, Brittany Wood, and Grace Devinney set the water on fire with a early season scorching time of 1:48.51, backed up by Alexa Kulakowski, Cassidy Svoboda, Kaitlyn Carroll, and Jeanne Vinette in 1:52.53.     The final win in the 400 freestyle relay solidified a Northstar sweep of all 3 relays against the Lakers as Grace Devinney, Jeanne Vinette, Kate Gucciardi, and Alexa Kulakowski surfed to a winning time of 4:13.76.  The Stars take on a stacked and loaded CBA team Tuesday night at Le Moyne College, 7pm.
