Liverpool shrugged off a slow and came away victorious in its softball game with Cicero-North Syracuse on Wednesday.
Liverpool scored all five of its runs in the sixth inning to secure a 5-0 victory over the Northstars.

Both pitchers kept shutouts going through the first five innings. Liverpool loaded the bases in the sixth thanks to a timely combination of hits, errors and walks. Senior Lauren Ragonese hit a blooper into right field that scored two runs for Liverpool. Hits by Ava Falvo and Emily Nestor boosted Liverpool's lead to five runs.
"It was definitely a pitchers' duel all the way up to the sixth inning." Liverpool coach Phil DeAugustine said. "It was all about defense for both teams."
Liverpool pitcher Mackenzie Frani gave up two hits in a complete game shutout. The senior had 12 strikeouts and did not walk a batter. Frani added a game-high two hits of her own offensively.
C-NS pitcher Lillian Hotaling registered a solid performance. She allowed five runs and six hits in her six innings of action. Sydney Rockwell and Sydney Puttkamer recorded the only hits for the Northstars.
"There aren't going to be any easy league games this year." DeAugustine said. "Each one is going to be a battle like this."
Liverpool (1-1) has a home matchup against Chittenango on Friday. The Northstars (0-2) take on New Hartford on Thursday for their third game in three days.
