C-NS girls soccer blanks Bville, wins sixth straight

The Cicero-North Syracuse girls soccer team got goals from Emily Rio and Ashley Evans and a stellar defensive effort to blank Baldwinsville, 2-0, in a a SCAC league contest. The win was the sixth in a row for the Northstars and avenged a 2-0 loss to Baldwinsville on Oct. 15.
"Baldwinsville had the better run of play tonight, but the CNS defenders played well and Avery Byrnes, our goalkeeper, had another outstanding performance," said Cicero-North Syracuse coach Jeremy Lenchert. "We didn't have as many chances, but Emily Rio and Ashley Evans found the net and we were able to come out of there with a 2-0 victory." Avery Byrnes finished with 12 saves as the Northstars defense recorded its sixth shutout of the season. Cicero-North Syracuse (8-2-1) closes out its season Friday with a non-league game at Skaneateles. Baldwinsville closes out its season at 8-4.
