C-NS had an extremely balanced scoring attack throughout the contest. 15 different players scored a goal for the Northstars. Natalie Wilson set a new career high with four goals. Sophomore Elizabeth Smith tallied three goals. Mackenzie Prentice scored twice to go along with a game-high five assists.
The Northstars also did a stellar job of preventing Corning-Painted Post from getting quality scoring opportunities. Starting goalie Jillian Howell saved one of the two shots on goal by the Hawks. Allison Spoto relieved Howell late in the game and picked up one save as well.
The Northstars defeated Rome Free Academy and Liverpool in the Section III sectional tournament to advance to states. C-NS (17-2) is set to take on Suffern of Section I in the state semifinal round on Friday at 1pm at SUNY COrtland.
