Cicero-North Syracuse girls lacrosse slips past West Genesee, 7-5

Cicero-North Syracuse topped West Genesee, 7-5, to extend its win streak to three games on Tuesday.  C-NS coach Stephanie Prentice was "pretty proud of bouncing back" after a tough 2-2 start to the season."We're excited about the win," she said.  The Northstars (5-3) led 4-3 at the half. C-NS then squeezed out a 3-2 advantage in the second half en route to the victory.  "For a good amount of the matchup, we moved the ball quite a bit," Prentice said. "We maintained possession."  Francesca Tortora led the charge for the Northstars with two goals, an assist, six draw controls and two caused turnovers. Samantha Klein added two goals and Brooke Molchanoff had a goal, an assist and four draw controls. Mackenzie Prentice had a goal and an assist, and Gabrielle Putnam contributed a goal and two ground balls. Goalie Nicole O'Neil made eight saves.  "We're figuring each other out. We've been able to fix our broken pieces," Prentice said. "We got our focus and energy back."  For the Wildcats (7-3), Caraline Major finished with two goals. Rylee Gonzalez provided a goal and an assist. Allison Major and Courtney Reynolds had a goal apiece. Allie Hanlon recorded 14 saves in net.  C-NS takes on Baldwinsville this Thursday at 7 p.m. West Genesee faces Victor (Section V) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
