The Northstars' journey started with a 3-0 over Syracuse on Wednesday and a 3-0 win over Fayetteville-Manlius on Thursday. C-NS (14-2) faced two tough opponents in Penfield and Shenendehowa, both on Saturday, and then the Warriors on Monday.
"We are staying locked in on the fact we have to empty the tank, and give it all we had, after playing five matches in six days versus quality opponents," said Cicero-North Syracuse coach Mike Lucia.
The Northstars racked up 45 kills in the win over Liverpool (8-6), led by Joe Seliger with 12. Both Andrew George and Reece Congel had nine kills, Peter Gill had eight and Carter King had seven. Jack Waite recorded 45 assists.
"We learned a lot about ourselves on Saturday," said Lucia. "The first being we can play with the best in the state by beating the defending state champions in Penfield, but also, we are not a finished product and have several areas where we need to improve upon in our five-set loss to Shenendehowa."
The Northstars will get some rest before heading to Central Square on Friday and Webster Thomas on Saturday.
Boys volleyball sectional seedings will be announced at the end of the month. Until then, the Norhtstars still have work to do, according to Lucia.
"I need to get our hitters in a better position to have success versus quality blocking teams," he said. "We need to do a better job making our opponents' hitters uncomfortable with our block and back row defense."
