Cicero-North Syracuse football cruises to win over RFA with high-powered offense

State-ranked No. 13 Cicero-North Syracuse's high-powered offense was on full display against Class AA foe Rome Free Academy on Thursday.

The Northstars made easy work of the Black Knights with a 43-7 victory at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

"We came out and executed right off the bat," C-NS coach Dave Kline said. "They didn't take (RFA) light. They maintained their focus and came out, and executed on both sides of the ball. That's the big part."

C-NS, which averages 38 points per game this season, scored all 43 of its points before RFA even sniffed the end zone.

"They've been really gaining some momentum," Kline said. "They've been getting better and better."

Senior running back La'Quan Lemon got the ball rolling with two first-quarter touchdowns. His 7-yard run and his 4-yard run gave the Northstars an early 14-0 lead.

"We've given La'Quan the ball a little bit more in the backfield, so that's been a big added bonus because he gives us a little bit of power, and he's got some decent speed," Kline said.

Junior running back Leonzo Zimmerman closed the first quarter with a 57-yard rushing touchdown. He opened the second quarter with 25-yard catch from junior quarterback Jaxon Razmovski to give C-NS a 28-0 lead.

Razmovski then found junior receiver Tristan Johnson for a 25-yard touchdown to give the Northstars a 35-0 lead at the half.

"Jaxon's just been getting better and better each week," Kline said. "Our receivers, who are growing, these are all kids that are juniors, so it's a first year of varsity experience and (they've) just been improving every single week."

Backup quarterback Marcus Reed II scored on a 2-yard keeper and capped the night with a successful two-point conversion pass to senior receiver David Shafer-Mooney.

"Marcus broke his collarbone back in the beginning of July, so he just finally got cleared by the doctors," Kline said. "Last year he was starting at linebacker for us. It's a big addition to have him back playing again. We still wanna take it easy with him. It was good to have him out there."

The Black Knights finally got on the scoreboard with a 20-yard interception return for a score by freshman defensive back Surafia Norries in the fourth quarter.

The Northstars have now won their last four games, including last week's 36-0 victory over Liverpool.

C-NS (6-1) closes out its season with a 1:30 p.m. matchup next Saturday at Utica Proctor. RFA (1-6) will be tested by Liverpool at 6:30 p.m. next Friday in its season finale.
